Data sources and licenses

This page is for anyone checking the data used by Kuku 防災助手. Read it when you want to verify a source or understand its license. It lists the required attributions and links to the original data.

The App uses data from publicly licensed sources. We combine and clean it using software. See “Disclaimer” for limitations on accuracy.

Shelter data: 22 counties and cities

The datasets below are provided under 政府資料開放授權條款-第1版. Article 3 requires attribution in the format “provider [year] [dataset name]”. The year is the last update year recorded in each dataset’s metadata.

Original fields, coordinate systems, and update frequencies vary. We standardize them before including them in the App. This includes coordinate conversion, address normalization, and identifying the county, city, township, or district. Conversion may introduce errors. Use the table links to check the original data.

Nationwide search

內政部警政署民防指揮管制所 provides 防空避難專區, with nationwide air-raid shelter lists and an interactive map. This service is not an open dataset and has no license statement. The App does not use its data directly. The link is provided only for cross-checking.

Emergency facilities and guides

AEDs, emergency hospitals, police, fire services, and disaster evacuation shelters come from official lists. Providers and sources are retained below. Open facility details to check each record’s dates, opening hours, and access restrictions.

We compile emergency and first aid guides from official guidance. Each card includes source links and a review date. This does not mean the source organization endorses the App. The CPR rhythm and SOS audio tracks were created for this project.

Administrative boundaries and base maps

• Township and district boundaries: Used to assign facilities to areas, extract county and city maps, and determine the area supported by offline routing. Road packages include processed county and city boundaries. Attribution: 內政部國土測繪中心 2025 鄉鎮市區界線(TWD97經緯度). Provided under 政府資料開放授權條款-第1版.
• Offline walking roads: © OpenStreetMap contributors, provided under ODbL 1.0. Road data is prepared from public road information. Each county and city package retains its source snapshot date. Road packages include road connections and administrative boundaries. Calculations on your device do not send the start or destination anywhere.
• Offline base maps: Tiles are produced by Protomaps. Their components have different licenses:
• Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, provided under Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0.
• Coastlines come from osmdata.openstreetmap.de, also under ODbL 1.0.
• The landcover layer is derived from ESA WorldCover, under CC BY 4.0.
• Small-scale national boundaries and place names reference Natural Earth, which is in the public domain.
• Protomaps map style design is under CC0. Its style code is under BSD-3-Clause.

Fonts

Body text uses system fonts. Headings use the bundled "jf open huninn" (Huninn) font, released by justfont under the SIL Open Font License 1.1; its Han glyphs derive from Kosugi Maru (Apache-2.0). Latin-character map labels include Noto Sans Regular/Medium glyphs under SIL Open Font License 1.1. Map icon sprites come from Protomaps basemaps-assets, under MIT and derived from tangrams/icons.

Using the data on this page

To obtain the data compiled in the App, use the original government datasets listed above. Attribute each source according to its license. For questions about this page, email support@kuku.best.
