Privacy policy

Last updated: 2026-09-29

This page is for people using Kuku 防災助手 (“the App”). Read it before saving or sharing information. It explains data handling and deletion. The App is provided by YU MAO SHIH (“we” or “us”), with iOS and Android apps and a free web version.

How your data is handled

The App has no accounts, cloud sync, push notification server, analytics, ads, or remote crash reporting. Private places, contact cards, medical cards, and supply records stay on your device and are not automatically uploaded to us. Store payments, sharing you initiate, external maps, and support email are handled by the respective services. The web version and online map request files from hosting services. The website kuku.best also uses Microsoft Clarity to analyze how visitors browse, as explained in “Purchases, websites, and external services”.

Local records stay on your device until deleted. Shared data goes to recipients you choose. We and our email service process messages to answer questions and resolve issues. Service locations and storage arrangements depend on the services used.

Under Article 3, you may request access, copies, additions, corrections, an end to collection, processing or use, and deletion. Manage local data in the App; we cannot access or delete it remotely. Contact the address below about support messages we receive. Declining optional data or permissions affects only the corresponding features.

Device permissions

Revoke permissions in system settings. This does not automatically delete saved copies.

Medical cards can include medication names, stock and storage instructions, and record when you last reviewed the card. You enter everything yourself. This is neither a current clinical assessment nor a prescription.

On iOS, the medical card uses a separate protected file excluded from device backup. The App covers its content in the app switcher but cannot prevent screenshots you take. Other data may be affected by system backups, device transfers, or browser settings. Android app backup is disabled in configuration; actual behavior depends on the platform and device. The App does not provide cross-device sync.

Sharing and external actions you initiate

Deleting data in the App does not recall shared copies, printouts, or clipboard content. Check the content, recipient, and device.

Purchases, websites, and external services

Plus is a one-time in-app purchase. Apple App Store or Google Play handles payment. The App receives purchase status and transaction identifiers to unlock features and restore purchases. We do not receive card numbers. See Apple’s privacy policy and Google’s privacy policy for payment data handling.

Native apps include facilities, guides, and a Taiwan overview map. Maps use bundled or previously saved files. There is currently no county download manager in the interface. Walking routes are calculated locally and require the area’s road network. A Taiwan overview map is not a Taiwan-wide walking road network.

The web version and online map connect to their hosting services. Hosts can receive IP addresses, request times, browser information, and requested files. Map requests may reveal the area being viewed; they do not upload entire private records or medical cards. The App uses no tracking cookies or behavioral analytics.

The website kuku.best is separate from the App. It uses Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the site, so we can improve its content and layout. Clarity records your clicks, scrolling, mouse movements, and the pages you view on kuku.best, along with device and browser information and an approximate location based on your IP address. Text in input boxes is masked. Microsoft processes this data and stores it in its Azure cloud, which may be outside Taiwan. Recordings are kept for 30 days, and a small random sample is kept for up to 9 months. Clarity sets cookies in your browser, including _clck, _clsk, and cookies on Microsoft domains. You can block cookies in your browser or use a tracker blocker to stop Clarity. For visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, Clarity does not set cookies until consent is given. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement for how Microsoft handles data. The website also uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views, and it does not set cookies.

Libraries such as MapLibre run on the device; they are not services receiving private data. Attribution remains available in “Data sources and licenses”.

Contact and deletion

If you email us, we receive your sender address, message, and attachments to handle the request. Include only information needed to investigate; avoid sending an entire medical card or someone else’s data. You can request access, correction, or deletion of correspondence, except where retention is required by law.

Manage places, contacts, supplies, and photos on their respective pages. Delete individual medications or the whole medical card under “Data storage and deletion”. Apple’s Medical ID is managed separately.

To clear all local data, delete the native App and its data, or clear site data in your browser. On iOS, “Offload App” keeps data and differs from “Delete App”. Manage external backups and shared copies separately.

Children and policy updates

Minors can use the App with a parent or caregiver’s help, entering only needed information. The App has no child tracking or advertising features. We update the date when this policy changes. New data uses that require consent or system permission will require the necessary authorization.

For privacy questions or rights requests, contact support@kuku.best. This policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
